| アブストラクト: | The article is written with the collaboration of M. Fumio Inoue, Japanese sociolinguist and dialectologist, who wrote the Part II. In the first part pp.801-815, sketching the history of Japanese dialectology, I illustrated various types of maps first in the Linguistic Atlas of Japan (LAJ) and then in the Grammar Atlas of Japanese Dialects (GAJ). Five main types are explained with examples : 1. Bisection Type of AB Type, 2. No Variation Type, 3. ABA Type, 4. Other Types (Lateral, Dispersion, Vestige), 5. Alternation Type or ABAB Type. Finally I pointed out a methodological weakness of GAJ with reference to the polymorphism in verbal radicals of a northern Wakayama dialect. |
