The morning was pretty slow but after lunch it got busy all of a sudden.
午前中はゆったりしてたんだけど、お昼の後急に忙しくなってね。
It was crazy.

Really. A lot of customers?
そうなの。お客さん多かったの？

Yeah. Ted called in sick this morning.
うん。今朝テッドが病欠の電話をくれてね。
And Alan's still in Atlanta, so we were short-staffed to begin with.
それにアランはまだアトランタだし。だからそもそもスタッフ不足だったんだよ。

Ah, that's too bad.
あら、それはお気の毒に。
Did you at least eat?
お昼は何か食べられはしたの？

Mm hmm. Fortunately the rush didn't happen until after.
うん、食べられたよ。幸いにもお客さんのラッシュがきたのはお昼の後でだからね。

Ah. Is Ted okay?

He sounded pretty nasally on the phone.
電話ではすごく鼻声だったよ。
Could be the flu.

I hope it's not too serious.
