I would've. Trust me.
断りたかったさ。本当だよ。
But she sort of got me out of a jam last month.
でも先月彼女が助けてくれたんだ。

Really?
そうなの？

Yeah. I've been really struggling in Professor Stephen's class and I needed her help to study for the midterm.
うん。スティーブン教授の授業で本当に苦労してて、中間テストのために勉強するのに彼女の助けが必要だったんだ。
Even though she drives me nuts, she really knows her stuff.
彼女は僕をイライラさせるけど、いろんなことが本当によくわかってるんだ。
She really helped me out.
本当に彼女が助けてくれたんだ。
And I did pretty well on the test, too, thanks to her.
それでテストもだいぶ良くできた。彼女のおかげでね。
