TUFS Language Modules

 Introduction

The "TUFS Language Modules" are one of the accomplishments made by the 21st Century Center of Excellence (COE) Program "Usage-Based Linguistic Informatics" based at the Graduate School of Area and Culture Studies, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.

These modules provide original multilingual web-based educational materials that are geared towards Japanese natives studying a foreign language for the first time. English materials are targeted at elementary and junior high school students.
For Japanese natives, the "Pronunciation Module," was released to the public in 12 languages in June 2004. The "Dialogue Module" was released in all 17 languages in December 2003. In April 2006, the "Grammar Module" was released in 10 languages and the "Vocabulary Module" in 2 languages. In addition, the "International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) Module" and the "Cross-Linguistic Grammar Module" have also been developed.
The page you are now reading is part of the multilingual version of the TUFS Language Modules. The Japanese Language Module offers web-based educational materials that have been created for students who can understand English, French, Chinese, Mongolian, Korean or Turkish. This enables students of the Japanese language living in Japan or abroad to study the language anytime and anywhere as long as they have access to the Internet. We will continue to develop new language modules and truly hope that you will be able to utilize them in your language studies.
