    北アメリカでは挨拶のことばとして"Hey!"と"Hi!"をよく使う。いずれもカジュアルな挨拶だが、"Hey!"はそのあとに会話が続くこと、話者が何か言いたいことがあるのを伝える挨拶。"Hi!"の後でも会話は続けられるが、挨拶だけして人とすれ違うような場面では、"Hi!"を使うのが一般的。

    "yeah"は"yes"の意味。「うん/はい」

    "nah"は"no"の意味。 「いいえ」

    "not a big deal"は"not important"の意味。「大したことではない」
  • I feel horrible.
  • You didn't mean to break it.

    "stuff"は"things"の意味。「物事」
  • Where did you get it?
  • Maybe I can buy you another one.
  • No seriously. Don't worry about it.
  • I have too many vases anyway.
  • We'll just use another one.
  • Are you sure?
  • Yeah. No worries. Stop stressing out.

    "stressing out"は"making oneself feel stressed or nervous"の意味。「ストレスを感じる」
