Language Education Researchers as Field Workers
Under the guidance of faculty members, graduate students carry out field work in various countries to collect discourse materials related to ordinary conversations. Prior to carrying out field work, connections that have been made between TUFS graduate courses and designated schools overseas are used. Graduate students spend approximately two or three weeks in the field and carry out linguistic field surveys in situations and usage settings that have been decided in advance. Through this field work, students gain not only linguistic proficiency, but also comprehensive decision-making skills and problem-solving ability.
